There won't be a geisha in sight tomorrow, I promise. I'll end this series with a shot of the back of a maiko's head. Yeah, well why not. You've seen her from every other angle. I believe a lot of geisha wear wigs or hair pieces because they just don't have the hair for these elaborate 'do's. This one was no wig-wearer but it is probably padded out with something. If you are just dropping by today for the first time in a while, you will have missed several geisha pics that I have been posting in rapid succession.   • I don't think I've ever seen the back of a geisha (maiko?)'s head straight on like that. Really cool. (Is that a Hairagami?! ;>)

  • I've been checking your photos pretty regularly for a while now, and I think that this is hands down the best one you've posted. There is great detail, great texture in the hair and fabric, it's well framed... just a really good picture.

  • Great picture. By the way, this is probably a maiko, not a geiko (geisha is the word referring to the geiko in general, not referring to a single woman).
